The history of Fusion 360 starts with the story of its founders, Dr. Thomas T. Yamashita and his passion to help family farmers solve their agronomic problems in a timely manner.
Meet Doc Tom
Thomas T. Yamashita, Ph.D.
Founder, President, Chief Science Officer
Our founder, Doctor Tom Yamashita grew up with a passion for agriculture and farming. At the age of four Doctor Tom was helping on his family’s strawberry farm in Campbell, California and later moved to Livingston California to take up peach farming.
While in high school, Doctor Tom took over the operations on the family peach farm and as a result had the highest peach production yields seen in the state that year. Doctor Tom had an innate natural ability with any crop he worked with. Combined with unparalleled observation skills he was more than adequately equipped to correctly diagnose the deficiency and disease, while identifying the right solutions and products that would enhance crop’s yields
His quest in this scientific approached fueled his desire and direction to earn his Ph.D. in both Plant Pathology and Nematology from UC Davis. This quest matured into the immense desire to help the family farmer solve their agronomic problems and to keep their farms successful and growing.

Anchored in the heart of California’s Central Valley, Turlock, California, Doc’s passion lead him to establish a business that helps the family farmer diagnose and solve a multitude of agronomic challenges. Consequently, Sunburst Plant Disease Clinic was established in 1995. Doc’s vast knowledge lead him to formulate and test patented plant growth products, naturally, the founding of FUSION 360, The Future of Agriculture™, followed in 1998.
As Chief Science Officer for FUSION 360, Doctor Tom’s focus has remained to produce cutting edge patented products to innovate the solutions that the family farmer sought. To this day, FUSION 360 with it’s dedicated team remains committed to work tirelessly to preserve the rich tradition of farming by providing cutting edge products and technologies to increase yields and enhance soil productivity beyond that of virgin soils.
